Hydraulics Pressure Switch

Rusty | Hydraulics Pressure Switch

Does anyone know what current the pressure switch originally supplied with the kit is rated for?

The connections to the outside world look like they could accept 14ga wire, but the inner wires to the contacts appear to be much smaller, less than a mm dia, maybe .030".

The pump wires looked like 10 ga. --I installed a 25amp switch breaker. On extending w/ 10 ga, they seemed a little smaller.

Was a relay supplied in later kits?

Hi Rusty,

I don't believe the pressure switch is rated to carry the load of the pump motor. It is usually hooked in series with the "Hydraulic Pump" switch to the "small" side of a relay, so when you turn on the switch and the pressure is low enough, the relay engages and the "big" side of the relay turns the pump on.

We usually use a start relay from Aircraft Spruce.

I hope this helps,

Thanks for the help. Starter Relay? 100+ Amps? O.K.--need weight in the nose anyway.

Yeah. The start relay is way over-kill but the price is right and you can get a replacement just about anywhere, in a pinch.
