Robehouse | Matco Wheel Rim Failure

During a recent pre-flight inspection I found a wheel rim crack. This is a Matco wheel install in the late 90s with only about 25 landings on it. After removing the wheel and a thorough inspection of the rim I saw no evidence of a hard landing or other incidental occurrence but rather a material, engineering, manufacturing defect or all 3. Check your Matco rims carefully. Matco has a fix for about $400. Happy Landings. JR

Matco should pay for that.... that looks like a manuf defect
